Visconti is the side-project of La Palazzetta, one of the top young estates in Brunello di Montalcino. Flavio Santi and his wife Carla Visconti own some prime Sangiovese Grosso vineyards in Castelnuovo dell'Abate, one of the key sub-zones of the region. For this wine, they use younger vines that will eventurally go into their Brunello to produce a softer, plusher, and more ready-to-drink red that offers insane quality-to-price ratio.
100% Sangiovese Grosso, aka the Brunello clone of the grape, this is brought up entirely in stainless steel. It delivers classic and soulful aromas and flavors of fresh strawberry, ripe cherry, mint, anise, and sage. Medium-bodied and fresh, silky and satisfying, this is what you want in your glass alongside a big plate of pasta Bolognese!
