Tua Rita Giusto di Notri

Established in 1984 by Rita Tua and her husband Virgilio, Tua Rita is located in Suvereto, just south of Bolgheri, along Tuscan's western coast. The couple took a risk, planting their vineyards with Bordeaux varieties, when all of the "experts" said grapes like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc would not ripen there. The "experts" were wrong, and when Tua Rita released their first wines in 1992, they were met with immediate praise and critical recognition.

Their Giusto di Notri is a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, and 10% Cabernet Franc, and it is in fine form this vintage, taking home 95-96 point scores from pretty much every major critic in the world.

Jeb Dunnuck - 96 points - "The Giusto Dei Notri cuvée is named for San Giusto, the patron saint of Suvereto, and Notri is the street where the winery is located. Made from 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the 2022 Giusto Dei Notri spent 18 months in French oak barrique. A youthful saturated red color, it has a fantastically detailed, fresh nose redcurrants, cedar, dusty earth, Mediterranean herbs, and fresh red flowers. Full-bodied, it has a refined and elegant structure, with well-defined tannins, even, ripe acidity, and a great finish that gently floats off the palate. It’s a very, very impressive, elegant wine in the range to drink over the coming 20 years."

Wine Advocate - 95 points - "This is a blend of mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with smaller parts Cabernet Franc and Merlot. The Tua Rita 2022 Giusto di Notri reveals an especially creamy and rounded texture that adds to a lovely and long-lasting mouthfeel. There is nothing heavy about the wine, and indeed, this vintage actually feels more streamlined and even a tad shorter compared to other hot-vintage releases of the past. The wine's appearance is inky dark, and the bouquet shows layers of dark fruit, blackberry, spice and sweet earth."
