Selvapiana Chianti RufinaRegular price $22.99
Selvapiana, located in the heart of the Chianti Rufina area of Tuscany, was founded by the Giuntini family in 1827, and is managed today by Silvia and Federico Giuntini Masseti. It is a typical Tuscan estate consisting of the owner's villa, cellars and other historic buildings — now no longer used — including an oil mill, granary and joiner's workshop.
This Chianti Rùfina is the pillar of Selvapiana's production, using primarily Sangiovese with small contributions from traditional blending partners Canaiolo, Colorino, and Malvasia Nera. This wine is an excellent example of the finesse and crispness the Rùfina subzone of Chianti delivers.
Delicate, pretty, and refined, this showcases lovely and crisp notes of cherry, redcurrant, subtle spice, and rose petal. Not the heaviest Chianti out there, it is nonetheless lovely and perfect for classic Italian dishes.
