Sandlands Chenin Blanc
Regular price $32.99When Tegan Passalacqua isn't busy making the wines at Turley, he runs Sandlands, his little side project, where he focuses on forgotten classic California varieties, grown in sandy soils. His Chenin Blanc comes primarily from an old, elevated vineyard in Amador County, and it is brought up in older barrels and foudres.
It's a wonderful expression of this classic Loire Valley variety, and we love it. So did Antonio Galloni of Vinous Media, who rated it 94 points:
"The 2023 Chenin Blanc (Amador County) is the most complete of the three whites I tasted for this report. Aromatic, bright and lifted, the 2023 possesses gorgeous floral lift and nuance. White flowers, citrus peel, chalk, mint and slate give this understated wine tons of detail. My only regret is not having been able to follow this for more time."
