The 2024 Crossbarn Chardonnay from Paul Hobbs is a beautifully fresh, unoaked expression of Sonoma Coast Chardonnay. Brought up entirely in stainless steel, it jumps out of the glass with vibrant aromas and flavors of pear, green apple, peach, and lime zest. There is a subtle creamy edge to the fruit that lets you know this is California Chardonnay, while bright, crisp acidity keeps the wine refreshing and energetic.
Crossbarn is Paul Hobbs' more accessible label, but there is nothing second-rate about the winemaking. Hobbs brings the same care to sourcing and production here that he does with his more expensive wines. This is bright, pure, and wonderfully easy to drink, with enough substance to make it interesting and enough freshness to keep you coming back for another glass.
