Lisa Gilbee runs one of the top biodynamic and organic estates in Puglia. She gets tons of great reviews for her old vine Primitivos, and we get it, they're great, but she deserves more acclaim and and press for her white wine too.
This is 100% Fiano d'Avellino -- Gilbee's vine cuttings came from 2 vineyards in Campania, and she planted her first Fiano in 2005. Now that those vines have aged a bit and dug into the earth a little more, they are producing flavorful and healthy grapes, and you can taste it in this wine. Gorgeous notes of ripe citrus, white flowers, smoky mineral, and citrus zest are all offered up on a full-bodied and concentrated palate. Delicious!
