The Pato family are synonymous with greatness when it comes to non-fortified Portuguese wines. Joao Pato made his first wines in 1970, making him the first grower and producer in the Bairrad region, and his son Luis continues that legacy today. Luis does not follow any rules, and he is constantly experimenting with new varieties and new ways of making his wines.
His Old Vine White is a wine that we absolutely love here at Table Wine. A blend of native grapes (Sercial, Bical, and Sercialinho), it is Old World to its core, with a slight resemblance to Chablis and Savennieres. Bone dry, savory, spicy, and somewhat mysterious, it is a must-try for white wine adventurers.
