La Cave du Prieure Pinot Noir

We love the wines from this fifth generation, family-run estate. Based in Savoie, wedged in between Geneva to the east and Burgundy to the west, this is proving to be some ideal terroir for Pinot Noir. The Barlet family's Pinot Noir combines some of the elegance of a village-level Red Burgundy with the freshness of a Cru Beaujolais.

Unoaked, medium-bodied, and juicy, it offers up delightful notes of morello cherry, raspberry, brown spices, and mineral. Silky and composed on the palate, this is quite easy to drink, but make sure to "spend some time" with it. It's quite sophisticated and classy, and finding Red Burgundy of this quality at this price is basically impossible these days.
