Kumeu River 'Village' Pinot Noir
Regular price $27.99Founded in 1944 by Mick Brajkovich, along with his wife Katé and son Maté, Kumeu River is one of the foundational estates of modern New Zealand wine. Located just outside of Auckland, this family-run winery helped establish the region’s reputation for serious, world-class wines. Today, the estate remains in Brajkovich hands, with Michael Brajkovich, New Zealand’s first Master of Wine, guiding the winemaking. Long committed to precision and transparency, the team farms meticulously, hand-harvests all fruit, whole bunch presses, and relies exclusively on indigenous yeast fermentations. They were also early champions of screw cap closures, adopting them to preserve freshness and detail in their wines.
Their 'Village' Pinot Noir is a fresh, juicy, open, and perfumed expression of New Zealand Pinot. Dark and red berries of dark cherry, blackberry, plum, and raspberry go with herbs of dried thyme and florals of lavendar accompanied by sweet spice. A very pleasant drinking experience from a benchmark producer in Auckland!
