Scott Schultz is a one-man operation based in Sebastopol. Jolie-Laide translates to "pretty-ugly," and it's an endearing French term for something that is unconventionally beautiful. Whatever the case, Scott spent several years working alongside Pax Mahle while also leading the wine program at Thomas Keller's Bouchon.

Schultz's Trousseau Gris was one of the first wines he made that really created a buzz. From the famed Fanucchi-Wood Road Vineyard, these nearly extinct vines yield a savory and fascinating orange wine. Floral, deep, and laced with notes of summer melon, stone fruit, white tea, and wet rock, this one is a bit wild, but it's delicious.
