Gianluigi Lano is a tiny, certified organic Barbaresco producer, and their Langhe Rosso is one of the finest Piedmont red wine values out there. A blend of 30 to 50 year old Barbera (70%) and Freisa (30%), this honestly "behaves" like a Barbaresco from a warm and ripe year.

The Freisa grape is closely related to Nebbiolo and some research suggests it is actually one of Nebbiolo's parent grapes. Offering up similar perfumed aromatics and structure, it blends wonderfully well with plusher, riper style of Barbera. At the end of the day, this is just a lot of wine for the money.

Highly aromatic, this offers up wonderful notes of ripe cherry, dark raspberry, rose petal, and leather in its medium bodied, finely chiseled style. Bring on the lamb chops and mushroom risotto!
