Gianluigi Lano is a tiny, certified organic Barbaresco producer, and this is one of the best values of its type we've ever tried. This is a functioning family farm that looks like something out of the 19th century -- the vineyards look wild, as no chemicals have been used here for well over 3 decades. The Lano family know their land and their vineyards, and their wines are naturally delicious and filled with character.
Vintage 2016 was a nearly perfect year weather-wise, and this is a brilliant bottle of Nebbiolo. Pretty, silky, refined, and complex, this is a wine that will seduce you with its flavors of mineral-accented red and dark berries, tobacco, tar, spice box, and so much more. If you want to drink this now, please decant for a good 2-3 hours. Otherwise, lay this down for a good 10 to 20 years.
