Where Elodie Balme's style shines through is in the shocking power and structure that this wine carries for such a humble designation on the bottle. A deeply focused wine with fruits of brambly raspberry, red plum, and kirsch. Spicy and savory notes of cracked pepper, anise, and forest floor really elevate this wines expression to something much more akin to a Gigondas designation, but the Balme style is to just make great wine regardless of designation.
