Rafael Sallet makes stunningly pure and delicious Chardonnays in the village of Uchizy, in the eastern hills of the Maconnais region, in Southern Burgundy. His 'Les Maranches' comes from a hillside vineyard with rocky, chalky soils, and it's one of the least expensive ways to get great White Burgundy into your glass.
The vines average 30+ years of age, and you can taste that old vine concentration in every sip. Full of energy but not sharp, this one flows with classic notes of apple, pear, citrus, and white flowers. It is a stellar value, and if you liked the Talmard Macon, you'll love this.
