Domaine Montirius is one of the most revered estates of the Southern Rhone, and it has been owned and operated by the Saurel family for 6 generations. With prime holdings in Vaqueyras, Gigondas, and beyond, they were one of the first Rhone estates to gain biodynamic certification in 1996.
Their Le Cadet, literally translated as the "younger one" is the more accessible red from the estate, but it's not at all simple. A blend of 65-year-old Grenache and Syrah, it showcases the Montirius' "house style," one that emphasizes freshness and energy over ripeness and heaviness, and we love it.
