Damien Roux, the current winemaker of Domaine Marie Berenice, comes from a family line of growers in Bandol. His family has historically grown grapes to sell to other wineries, but he chose to begin making wines with his own fruit. Practicing and certified organic, all 14 hectares of the farm has work done by hand. Domaine Marie Berenice is named after his daughter.

The Domaine Marie Berenice Bandol Rouge is made entirely with native, wild yeasts, focusing on a long maceration, aging in large foudres for eighteen months, and bottled without fining or filtration. Certainly containing the stuffing to age for the long haul, it is beautifully approachable upon release. Dark, firm, and layered, but with great lift and elegance, this is a serious bottle of wine that is incredibly drinkable now.
