Domaine Lucien Crochet Sancerre 'Le Chene Marchand'
Le Chene Marchand is one of the top vineyards in all of Sancerre, and it's a site that really shows us what Lucien Crochet can do with Sauvignon Blanc. Located in Bue, the vineyard is planted on rocky Oxfordian limestone soils known as caillottes and griottes. The vines have excellent sun exposure, allowing the grapes to ripen beautifully while holding onto the acidity that makes great Sancerre so compelling.
Le Chene Marchand has a wonderful combination of ripe fruit and elegant acidity. It's bright, focused, and mineral-driven, with plenty of fresh fruit on the palate and a long, energetic finish. We love the extra depth this wine brings to the table without losing that classic Sancerre freshness. This is a great bottle to put alongside oysters, seafood, goat cheese, or a simply prepared roast chicken.
