Domaine Elodie Balme Rasteau

The Elodie Balme Rasteau is a beautifully pure expression of the Southern Rhone Valley of Rasteau. I love how this one is crafted with a light touch that favors freshness and drinkability over weight. Balme farms organically and works with old vines rooted in clay-limestone soils, giving the wine both depth and lift. Her approach in the cellar is minimal and thoughtful, with gentle extraction, native yeast fermentation, and restrained elevage, allowing the site and vintage to speak clearly.

In the glass, I find it vibrant and expressive, offering layers of ripe raspberry, black cherry, and wild strawberry, lifted by notes of garrigue, white pepper, and subtle earth. The palate is silky and medium-bodied, with fine tannins and bright acidity that keep everything in balance. This is Rhone red with energy and finesse, equally at home on the dinner table or enjoyed on its own.
