Domaine du Prieure Savigny-les-Beaune 1er Cru 'Les Lavieres'

This small, third generation, family-run estate calls Savigny-les-Beaune home, and they farm a small plot of 75 year-old vines in the Premier Cru vineyard of Les Lavieres, a steep site on the Pernand site of Savigny. The family farms organically, the hand harvest, and 30% of the wine is aged in new oak, with the remainder brought up in neutral oak.

The finished wine is a classic Savigny-les-Beaune with a tremendous balance of fruit, spice, and earth. 'A distinctly earthy and layered nose exhibits soft spice elements on the pretty mix of both red and dark pinot fruit where additional nuance is present in the form of smoked game. There is good richness to the delicious, round and nicely vibrant flavors that exude a subtle minerality on the sappy and sneaky long if slightly warm finish. This is not a particularly dense wine but I like the texture and developing depth.' - Importer Notes
