'In 2013, longtime friends Nicolas Grosbois and Philippe Mesnier purchased 12 hectares of vines in Azay-le-Rideau, an excellent though relatively unknown terroir located a few kilometers east of Chinon. They immediately began farming all the vines organically, and set about on an ambitious project to reintroduce the wines of Azay-le-Rideau. Traditionally, Azay-le-Rideau is famous for white wines made from Chenin Blanc and rosé wines made from Grolleau and Gamay.

Les Pentes is blend of three classic Loire Valley red grapes: Cabernet Franc, Gamay, and Grolleau. Cabernet Franc provides the backbone and structure for the wine, Gamay adds fruitiness, and Grolleau, the energy and freshness. The Grolleau is especially typical of the area around Azay-le-Rideau. This easy-drinking, food-friendly red wine is inspired by the fillettes of wine sold by the liter in cafés and bistrots throughout the Loire Valley and in Paris, and embodies the same spirit of affordable, enjoyable, and affable companionship to any meal.' - Importer's Notes
