The young Antoine Reniaume might be fairly new on the scene in Burgundy, but his wines do not "behave" that way. Case in point is his Rully Blanc 'Chene,' a wine that we would happily put into a blind tasting against much more expensive White Burgs from the Cote de Beaune.
Just 1,500 bottles were produced in the stellar 2023 vintage, and the wine comes from a tiny parcel of 30-60+ year-old, organically-farmed vines. Aged for 12 months in neutral oak barrels, it is a very complete, complex, and layered White Burgundy. Stunning aromas of apricot, poached pear, lemon curd, and spice are front and center, with subtle nuances of flinty/chalky minerality underneath. Bravo Monsieur Reniaume!
