One of the top producers in the Tuscan village of Montepulciano, Dei was established in 1964 by Alibrando Dei. For many years, the family sold their grapes to other producers, but in 1985, they began estate-bottling their own wines. Today, they are one of the qualitative leaders of this famed DOCG.

'Wild herbs, black cherries and exotic spices create a wildly inviting bouquet as the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano opens in the glass. This is undeniably silky and elegant on the palate. Fleshy red fruits are neatly framed by bright acids, as balsam and mocha notes form toward the close. It leaves a gentle staining of fine tannins to linger, along with a sour citrus hint that adds contrast. This is simply a pleasure today but has short-term cellaring potential.' - 92 points, Vinous Media.
