If you love the character of Amarone but want something with a little more freshness and restraint, Corte Majoli’s Valpolicella Ripasso is a terrific choice. Made by fermenting Valpolicella a second time on the skins left from Amarone production, Ripasso gains extra depth, texture, and richness. This one is ripe and generous, with dark cherry, spiced plum, pink peppercorn, vanilla, clove, and tobacco.
Corte Majoli is a third-generation, certified organic estate run by cousins Flavio, Vanio, and Federico Tezza. They farm their own vineyards by hand and make the wine at their facility in Verona, giving them control from vineyard to bottle. Rich, soulful, and packed with flavor, this is a serious red with plenty of Amarone character.
