This overachieving estate is situated in Entre-Deux-Mers, and Benoit Meyer and his family run their operation with a ton of passion and care. The farming is basically organic, and Cugat's vineyards are positioned on gravelly-clay soils, much like those you'd find in Pomerol.
The estate's 2019 Bordeaux Superieur is 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, and this is the current release. Yep, this has got 6 years of age on it, and it drinks like a very noble wine. With wonderful and classic notes of spiced plum, blackcurrant, pepper, earth, and graphite, it's a well-balanced claret that is perfect for classic bistro fare.
