Chai de la Dive Saumur Rouge Les Moulins
Regular price $27.99Romain Guiberteau is one of the leading figures and winemakers in France's Loire Valley. After abandoning his law studies, he returned to his family's estate in Saumur, made his first wine under the tutelage of Nady Foucault of Clos Rougeard fame, and he continue to craft some of the region's most sought-after wines.
The 2024 vintage sees the debut of the Chai de la Dive wines, a joint venture between Romain, Brendan Stater West, Romain's daughter Camille and her partner, Alex Crochet. The wines are produced with estate-grown and purchased fruit, but all of the grapes come from certified organic vineyards.
The Rouge is 100% Cabernet Franc fermented with native yeasts in concrete and stainless steel. Grapes are grown on clay-limestone soils, and this expresses that wonderfully transparent sense of place. The aromas are of freshly-tilled soil, tobacco leaves, dark berries, and lavender, and the palate takes a little bit of coaxing, but with about 30 minutes in glass or decanter, it really opens up. Really tasty and true-to-form Cab Franc from a great team of passionate vignerons.
