Capitain-Gagnerot Ladoix 1er Cru 'La Micaude'Regular price $67.99
Pierre-Francois and Delphine Capitain are 9th generation growers and producers at this overachieving estate that got its start in 1802. Named Guide Hatchette's winemakers of the year in 2021, the La Micaude vineyard is a monopole, meaning the family owns the entire plot of vines. From a 2.5 acre site on the northern flank of the Corton hillside, this south facing parcel was planted in 1966. This site is certified organic and biodynamic.
Deeply colored and darkly-fruited on the palate, this is one of the great Premier Cru Red Burgundies I've ever had the honor of enjoying. Soaring notes of spiced plum, blueberry, dark cherry liqueur, spice, and warm earth waft out of the glass, and the palate is equally phenomenal. Powerful, rich, and robust, this is a Pinot Noir that will please the pickiest of palates. Enjoy now or over the next 10+ years.
