Bodegas Frontonio is the personal project of Master of Wine Fernando Mora, working with 50 hectares of old, organically farmed Garnacha bush vines in the Valdejalón IGP of Aragón, where the grape is believed to have originated. The vines are more than 60 years old and planted in limestone soils at nearly 2,000 feet in elevation, with cooler, north-facing exposures. Native-yeast fermentation and 25% whole clusters in concrete vats keep the focus firmly on the fruit and site.

This is Garnacha on the fresher, more lifted side, with bright acidity, silky texture, and just 12.5% alcohol. Pomegranate, blood orange, cherry, strawberry, cranberry, white pepper, and savory herbs give it a high-toned, almost Pinot Noir-like character. Give it a slight chill and enjoy.
