Pillot definitely gets more press for their whites, but after tasting this recently, I think their reds deserve more attention. And this is certainly their top red wine value. The estate’s Grandes Terres lieu-dit (single vineyard) is just south of the higher rent district of Chassagne-Montrachet, and the Pinot Noir vines here are 65-70 years old.

The color is deeper than what you typically get in a Bourgogne Rouge, the nose is full of ripe wild berries and spices, and the palate is seamlessly integrated. Yep, this one is drinking beautifully right out of the gate.
