Schloss Gobelsburg is one of Austria's elite producers, and the estate is home to some of the country's earliest vineyards. They take great pride in their Zweigelt, which is Austria's most planted red variety along with one of the country's most important. The grape is a cross of Blaufranksich and St. Laurent, and it is often compared to Pinot Noir.
This version is bright and fresh, with engaging notes of cherry, raspberry, and pepper. Medium-bodied, relatively low in tannin, and high in acidity, this is the perfect red to put a slight chill on, and enjoy with barbecued chicken.
