Ricominciare is the winery of Viviana Catena. She owns a tiny 2 hectares of 37 year-old Cabernet Franc in the La Consulta District of Mendoza. She and her team harvest all of their grapes by hand, and the wine is fermented in cement vats to preserve freshness and purity.
The finished wine is a fabulous introduction to Cab Franc. Not quite as heavy as its offspring grape Cabernet Sauvignon, this showcases lovely notes of raspberry, cassis, herbs, and ash. Medium-bodied and juicy, with soft tannins, it's very easy to drink.
