The tiny AOC of Jasnieres is one of the northern-most appellations of the Loire Valley. The Janvier estate is one of the finest, and the Chenins from Jasnieres bear a unique aromatic signature. Exotically perfumed and very different than the Chenins produced in Vouvray, Savennieres, and Anjou, we LOVE this wine.
'In Janvier's Cuvee du Silex, you will find a different minerality (crushed flintstone?) than his other cuvées, and the fruit is more intense. Notice the crystalline texture, the lemony tang against the sweet, ripe Mirabelle fruit, the firm structure and endless aftertaste. What a talent; what a terroir! Please hide away a few bottles.
