The estate's Excellence Rioja is 90% Tempranillo and 10% Graciano from dry-farmed, organic, 50-60 year old vineyards in the Alavesa and Alta zones. 55% goes through carbonic fermentation, and 45% is de-stemmed and goes through a traditional ferment. The finished wine sees just 3-5 months in oak, and this stuff is downright chuggable.
All the Tempranillo terroir, the mineral tannins and a cherry bomb blast of Graciano is balanced by the easy to drink structure and soft tannins on the finish. A baby Rioja at a pleasurable price.
