La Mesma’s Etichetta Gialla, or Yellow Label, is a beautifully expressive Gavi made from 100% Cortese and organically farmed in the hills of Piemonte. The wine comes from the limestone soils of Monterotondo, where older, lower-yielding vines produce a Cortese with more body and personality than your typical Gavi. The Rosina sisters run the estate, which is devoted entirely to Cortese and combines careful farming with a thoughtful, hands-off approach in the cellar.
Bright and fresh, with layers of peach, apricot, Meyer lemon, citrus zest, white flowers, and savory herbs, this is a wonderfully versatile white with plenty of character. Fresh acidity keeps it lively while the fruit and mineral notes give it enough substance for roasted chicken, salmon, pork, seafood, or a plate of roasted vegetables. A terrific example of just how interesting Gavi can be.
