Founded in 1997 by Yiannis Boutaris of the Boutari Wine Group, this is a great introcution to the marvels of Greek red wines. 100% Xinomavro, one of the country's most important red varieties, all fruit is hand-harvested, and the wine is fermented in open-top casks. The wine is then aged for a year in a mix of used French and American oak. The finished wine shows loads of dark berry fruit along with more complex notes of smoky herb, spice, and floral nuances.
