Scott Schultz is a one-man operation based in Sebastopol. Jolie-Laide translates to "pretty-ugly," and it's an endearing French term for something that is unconventionally beautiful. Whatever the case, Scott spent several years working alongside Pax Mahle while also leading the wine program at Thomas Keller's Bouchon.

Schultz's Sauvignon Gris, the rarely seen mutation of Sauvignon Blanc, comes from the gravelly, limestone-rich soils of San Benito County. Gently pressed and fermented and aged in tank and neutral oak, it offers up gorgeous notes of lime zest, peach, mango, orange blossom, and lemongrass. Very limited, as we are lucky to get 1 case per year....
