Gut Oggau 'Timotheus'
Regular price $76.99Gut Oggau is a wine project that was started in 2007 by Eduard and Stephanie Tscheppe in the small town of Oggau within Burgenland, Austria. Eduard came from a background of winemaking with his dad in Styria, and Stephanie's family owned and operated the Michelin starred restaurant Taubenkobel. They restored a 17th century winery that had been abandoned for 20 years, and immediately converted it to biodynamics. Feeling that the wines they were crafting were exhibiting distinct personalities, they decided to theme the wines around a family that really exists through their bottlings and the labels with artwork done by artist Jung von Matt.
Their 'Timotheus' bottling is Gruner Veltliner and Weissburgunder themed after one of the five parents of their wine family. One third of the grapes are macerated on the skins for 3 weeks while the rest is directly pressed, there is partial stem inclusion. Lively, light-bodied, textured, and exotic. Fruits of pineapple, dried apricot, starfruit, and crushed clementine show with talc, lemon rind, dandelion, white pepper, and quinine in a fascinating bottling from Gut Oggau that is bottled entirely unfined and unfiltered with zero sulfur addition.
