Domaine Pelle Menetou-Salon 'Vignes de Ratier'

Fourth-generation Paul-Henry Pelle organically farms 40 hectares of vines, mainly in Menetou-Salon, but he also has a small plot of Sauvignon Blanc in Sancerre as well. Like the top wines from Chavignol, Pelle's wines drink well on release, but also have the power and precision to age beautifully for 10-15 years, often longer in top vintages.

Their 'Vignes de Ratier' is 100% Sauvignon Blanc coming from the commune of Morogues in Menetou-Salon. It is aged on the lees, and sees a mix of stainless steel, wooden vats, and, mostly, casks. A rich and full bodied wine that gets a great expression of minerality thanks to the kimmeridgian marl soils that the vines are grown in.
