Domaine Gregoire Hoppenot Fleurie 'Les Moriers'

Gregoire Hoppenot is one of the hottest young producers in Beaujolais. He makes his wines in a very natural fashion, but in his own words, he wants to "make clean wine from organic grapes without any adulteration." He is succeeding, and his wines offer amazing texture combined with wonderful purity.

Les Moriers is a single, old vine site that sits up high, overlooking the village of Fleurie. Like his neighbor Clos de la Roilette, Hoppenot's Fleuries are more muscular, complex, and detailed wines that should be tried by lovers of Red Burgundy. This one explodes out of the glass with aromas and flavors of ripe plum, brambly berries, flowers, exotic spices, and mineral. This is truly impressive stuff folks.
