Domaine des Chasseignes 'Evidence' Sancerre Rouge

Domaine des Chasseignes began four generations ago with a family farm that also raised livestock and grew grains. Today, the great granddaughter of founder Alphonse, Aurore Dezat, is the talented vigneronne at the helm. Her husband, David Girard, joined her in 2016 and with him brought a wealth of experience in organic and biodynamic farming.

All of Aurore's wines are fantastic, but her Evidence Sancerre Rouge is the wine she puts the most of her heart and soul into. It is proof that you can sometimes find Burgundy-like Pinot Noirs outside of Burgundy that cost a fraction of the price. This is such a fantastic bottle of wine, and we would totally call Red Burgundy in a blind tasting.

Boasting a deeper color, it opens with hearty notes of plum, dark cherry, spice, earth, and mineral. As it sits in the glass, the texture loosens up a bit to reveal a vibrant and highly sophisticated bottle of wine. You can drink it now, but we'd recommend decanting it for a good 3-4 hours and enjoying with grilled meats or earthy root vegetables or mushrooms. Drink now through 2035.
