Two of the rising stars of the Cote de Nuits, Isabelle and Philippe Collotte are based in the village of Marsannay, but they have a small amount of holdings just south in Fixin and Gevrey-Chambertin. The vines for their Gevrey are 55-60 years old and they are located just below the 1er Cru Champeaux Vineyard. The couple believe this is the best version of this wine they've produced to date, and we tend to agree with them.
Beautifully perfumed, finely detailed, and quite finessed, this showcases notes of ripe cherry intermingled with exotic spices, dried herbs, and licorice. Medium-bodied and supple, this is a very attractive wine to drink now and over the next 5 to 7 years.
