Catherine and Claude Marechal are regarded in the same vein as Dujac, Carillon, d'Angerville, and others in France's most respected wine guide - La Revue du Vin de France. They just cost a lot less! Claude became friends with the late Henri Jayer in the 1980's, and to this day, the lessons he learned from this master are abundantly evident in the wines.
Their Chorey-les-Beaune bottling, coming from where they are based, is an excellent look into their house style. Open, classic, delicate, and perfumed with wilted rose. Dark cherry, raspberry, and plum comingle with spice box, anise, and that ever sought after damp Earth that so many serious caliber Burgundies are known for.
