The rare Pelaverga grape is indigenous to the village of Verduno, in the southwestern corner of Barolo. Castello di Verduno is one of the champions of the variety, and they actually planted a vineyard to just this grape back in 1972. Today, their Pelaverga is considered one of the standard-bearers of this uniquely delicious Piemonte grape.

Light in body and color, but incredibly fragrant, it shares traits with Pinot Noir, Gamay, and Frappato, but its pink peppercorn quality make it quite singular. Juicy red fruits, rose petal, soft tannins, and juicy acidity are also at play in this highly allocated and wonderful red wine. Give it a try!
