Gabriele Buondonno has produced an absolutely rocking Sangiovese from the hot and dry 2022 vintage. Rich and ripe on the one hand, but structured and powerful on the other, this stuff honestly drinks like Brunello or at least a top-rated Rosso di Montalcino.
Buondonno's ancient property was once owned by Michelangelo, and since Gabriele purchased the property in 1988, all of the vineyard work has been certified organic. Their Rosso Toscana is 100% Sangiovese produced from old vines and fermented and aged in tank and cement. It's a wonderful and value-priced bottle of traditional Tuscan righteousness.
