Antoine Lienhardt has quickly become one of Burgundy's most exciting young vignerons. After taking over his family's vineyards in 2011, he set out to prove that overlooked appellations could produce wines every bit as compelling as their more famous neighbors. Farming biodynamically, working with old vines, and treating every vineyard as if it were a Grand Cru, Antoine has earned a devoted following among collectors and sommeliers. His tiny-production wines are now some of the most sought-after values in Burgundy.
Situated between Marsannay and Gevrey-Chambertin, Fixin has long been one of the Cote de Nuits' best-kept secrets, and Antoine's version is a beautiful expression of the appellation. A bit riper, darker fruited, and meatier than his Cote de Nuits Villages Les Plantes aux Bois, it reveals layered notes of dark cherry, plum, black tea, and forest floor. Whole-cluster fermentation lends freshness and silky texture, while the wine's mineral backbone keeps everything focused and balanced. Enjoy it now with a decant or cellar it for the next 10 to 15 years.
