Raventos i Blanc Textures de Pedra

With a documented history of viticulture back to 1497, officially creating the first sparkling wine in Spain in 1872 by Josep Raventos i Fatjo, the Raventos family are one of the best sparkling wine producers in the country.

Pepe Raventos, of the current generation, is a dynamic and forward-thinking man and honed his expertise with internships alongside the late, great Didier Dageneau in the Loire and Domaine Hubert Lamy in Burgundy, before returning to the family domaine to produce exceptional sparkling wines from their biodynamic, fossil-rich terroir.

Their Textures de Pedra relies on red grapes -- 25% Bastard Negre, 50% Xarel-lo Vermell, and 25% Sumoll from biodynamic vineyards in the Vinya Més Alta. Aged for 48 months sur lie and bottled with zero dosage, it is rich, complex, and zesty.

Decanter - 94 points - "True to its name, this is an unapologetically textural and mineral wine, with a pointed zestiness softened by the creamy, lively mousse. Pink grapefruit, blood orange, toasted almonds and red apple peel mingle in the mouth, supported by a muscular acidity. Pickled walnuts, wet stone, moss, orange sherbet and pith play in the background. Broad-shouldered yet very elegant. Biodynamic."

Vinous Media - 93 points - "The 2020 Brut Nature Textures de Pedra is composed of 50% Xarel·lo Vermell, 25% Sumoll and 25% Bastard Negre, sourced from Conca del Riu Anoia in Penedès. Aged 42 months on the lees, this light yellow wine reveals aromas of bakery, bay leaf and lime, complemented by deep citrus layers. Dry and ethereal on the palate, the vibrant, saline acidity leads to a refreshing and textured mouthfeel. This joyful and vivid sparkling wine boasts a heightened core thanks to the red varieties in the blend."
