Muraje Carema 'Sumie
Regular price $104.99Federico and Deborah Santini are the exceptional duo behind Muraje, which is local dialect for the incredible centuries old rock walls that retain the terraces along the steep slopes of the amphitheater that is Carema, within the Alto Piemonte. They work entirely organically with vines that are in some cases over 50 years old. They began their label Muraje in 2016, and have restored 1.3ha of vines of local varietals of Nebbiolo, Neyret, Ner d'Ala, Pugnet, and Vernasssa, among others. They vinify what small amount of wine they make from these vines in a small garage among the streets of Carema.
Their Carema 'Sumie' is 100% Nebbiolo coming from vines of an average age of 50 years old. As is the case with all their wines, it exudes an ethereal, delicate, and crystalline character. At the same time aromatic and elusive, a mineral-driven wine that shows fruits of dried cranberry and sour cherry, with pink peppercorn, lilac, wild rose, fennel, and smoke aromas. The palate, as with the nose, is dazzling. This is one of the best Nebbiolo you can buy from us.
