Mendel Malbec

Mendel is the collaboration between Roberto de la Mota, one of Argentina’s most respected winemakers, and a historic Argentine family with deep roots in Mendoza. Sourcing fruit from more than 70-year-old vines at the “Faraway Ranch” in Altamira in the Uco Valley, this is Malbec with real pedigree. Old vines, high-elevation sites, and diverse soils come together to produce a wine of depth, structure, and unmistakable sense of place.

This is a full-bodied, dense, and structured Malbec, with layers of black plum, ripe raspberry, violet, and a touch of sweet French oak and espresso. The palate is deep and chewy, with thick tannins balanced by freshness and lift, showing notes of black raspberry, plum, roasted herbs, and mint. It’s drinking well now, especially with a ribeye or leg of lamb, but has the stuffing to age nicely too.

Dry, rich and velvety, the balanced palate persists on the fruit tones with a faintly taut character. This is a delicate and tasteful Lujan Malbec."
