La Vizcaina by Raul Perez La del Vivo Blanco

Raul Perez was born into a winemaking family, and he worked for his family full-time until 2003 (he still helps out) when he went out on his own. He is among the most meticulous and eccentric vignerons in the world, and his reluctance to compromise has made him both beloved and controversial. We love him!

At his own winery, he makes a range of whites and reds that showcase pure terroir and transparent varietal character. His La Del Vivo Blanc is almost all Godello from 80 to 100 year-old vines. Fermented in a mix of neutral oak and clay amphora, this is as tense and tactile as white wine gets. Very high-toned, it offers up savory notes of flint, wet rock, pear, lemon zest, and salty minerality.
