The family bought a couple hectares, then quickly a dozen more, essentially on a whim. After a couple years of making wine in a semi-commercial manner, the trio purchased a cellar in the hillside hamlet of Tassarolo: population 600. With the help of oenologist Davide Ferrarese, La Mesma went from passion project to rising star in Gavi.
Their Le Rose Gavi is a great entry-point into the style of wine the estate is producing these days. 100% Cortese from organically farmed, estate vineyards, this is as clean and pure as a mountain stream. Zesty, lively, and quite easy to drink, this is a wonderful alternative to Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc.
