The Autran family (Jean-Marc, Sophie, and Maude) make one of the great Cotes du Rhone values in the world. From their vineyards near Sablet, just north of Gigondas, this 4th generation, organic, family-run estate make their wines in a very traditional and simple way. Harvest healthy grapes, ferment with native yeasts, and let the rest take care of itself.
Their Cotes du Rhone is classic -- medium bodied, juicy, spicy, and balanced, it shows notes of cherry, dark cherry, white pepper, and Provencal herbs on a silky and refined palate. It's one of those wines that everyone seems to like.
